Terms of Service
Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Told To Last, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service. These terms may be updated from time to time; continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Told To Last. By using the service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. Users under 18 should use the service only with parental consent.
Your Content
You own the questions you create and the videos that are sent to you. By using Told To Last, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and deliver your content solely for the purpose of operating the service. We do not claim ownership of your content and will not use it for any other purpose.
Subscriptions & Plans
Told To Last is offered as a subscription. Your plan includes recording new video answers and access to all features. A separate Archive Preservation plan is available to keep an existing vault stored in read-only form (see "Archive Preservation Plan" below). Plan details are presented in the app before you subscribe. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
Refunds
Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, and all payments are processed by those stores. Refund requests are therefore handled by the store you purchased from, under its refund policy: for Apple, request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com or through your Apple account settings; for Google Play, request a refund from your order history or at support.google.com/googleplay. We do not have the ability to issue refunds for store purchases directly, but if you contact us at support@toldtolast.com we will do our best to help with your request. Cancelling your subscription stops future renewal charges but does not by itself refund the current billing period; deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. Nothing in this section limits any refund rights you have under the law of your country or region.
Cancellation & Read-Only Access
You may cancel your subscription at any time. The moment a cancellation is confirmed, your account moves to read-only mode: you and anyone you have invited can still view every recording already in your vault, but no new recordings can be made. No data is deleted at cancellation. You can reactivate your full account at any time, and all prior recordings are restored.
Data Retention & Deletion Timeline
After cancellation, your vault follows a defined timeline. It remains in read-only mode and is fully preserved for 90 days. At 90 days, the vault is moved to archive (cold) storage and remains preserved but is no longer immediately accessible. If no action is taken for 12 months following cancellation, the vault enters a permanent deletion phase. Once permanently deleted, your recordings cannot be recovered by you or by us. This deletion is irreversible.
Archive Preservation Plan
At the 90-day archive point you may choose to keep your vault preserved indefinitely under the Archive Preservation plan, a read-only plan that stores everything already captured without allowing new recordings. Activating it stops the 12-month deletion countdown for as long as the plan remains active. You may instead reactivate the full plan to resume recording, or take no action and allow the deletion timeline to proceed.
Downloading Your Content
You may export all of your content at any time from the app's settings ("Download All My Memories"), including after cancellation and during the read-only and archive periods. An export includes downloadable video files for every memory you recorded and every memory recorded for you, plus a manifest of your questions and stories. Export download links expire 7 days after the export is ready; you may request a new export at any time. Exporting your data does not delete it. We strongly encourage you to download anything you wish to keep before any deletion window closes — once content is permanently deleted, no recovery is possible.
Account Deletion & 30-Day Grace Period
You may delete your account at any time from the app settings. Deletion is scheduled, not immediate: for 30 days after your request, your account is dormant and nothing is destroyed. During that window you can log back in to restore your account in full, and people who depend on memories you recorded — those who asked you questions you answered, or whom you shared memories with — retain access so they can export those memories. We notify them when you request deletion and remind you 7 days before the deletion completes. When the grace period ends, your account, videos, and personal information are permanently deleted. This is irreversible.
Legacy Contact
You may designate a legacy contact in your account settings: a trusted person who may request access to your memories through our support team if your account becomes permanently inaccessible (for example, in the event of your death). Designating a legacy contact does not grant that person any automatic access to your account. Every legacy-contact request is reviewed manually by our team, which may require proof of identity and other documentation before granting access. Your legacy contact's information is deleted when you remove the designation or when your account is deleted.
Notifications & Your Responsibility
We will send notifications to the phone number or email address registered to your account at key points in the cancellation timeline: at cancellation, around 30 days, at the 90-day archive point, and again 60 days, 30 days, and 7 days before permanent deletion. Each deletion warning includes a link to download your content. It is your responsibility to keep an active, current phone number or email on file so you receive these notices.
Prohibited Uses
You may not use Told To Last to send harassing, threatening, illegal, or abusive content. You may not attempt to reverse engineer, exploit, or disrupt the service. Violation of these terms may result in immediate account termination.
Service Availability
We aim to keep Told To Last available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service with reasonable notice where possible.
Limitation of Liability
Told To Last is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
